Summer Hair cuts

The boys both needed hair cuts really bad!!! So I finally broke down and cut their hair yesterday evening. They hate having their hair cut, and neither sit really well for me to do it, so I just did a basic buzz...they are so cute is doesn't really matter what their hair looks like, but I still miss the longer hair. Here are some pictures I took this morning. After taking these pictures this morning. I have also decided we need a new camera because this one is really hard to get pictures that aren't blurry because the boys move so much. I'm thinking maybe that's what Daddy will get for his Birthday because then we'll have it for our Disney land trip!

Miracles from Heaven

I have been working at Henderson Speech and Language Center for a few months now, and I recently received a compliment of accomplishment from my boss, as well as an unexpected raise in pay. What a blessing! It seems the the Lord just keeps looking out for us so that we always have what we need, as well as plenty left over. This got me thinking about the things I do, the blessing I receive and just how wonderfully everything worked out. I see his hand and design in how things have come together for us here-with daycare, and my job, and everything fitting together so well, like it was already set up for me to just step in and play my part.

I have always known that it was important for me to become an SLP, almost like it was a calling of mine. I always wanted to do for someone else what was done for Garth! Well, I have a client that is a lot like Garth. He is 7 years old and has been non-verbal all his life...now he is beginning to speak! He said his very first word about 6 weeks ago, and now he says another 5 or 6. It's so wonderful to see him progress every week!

I feel like Ammon of old who said "I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my won wisdom...Yea I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things." (Alma 26:11-12) I feel like I have been an instrument in His hands in order to give this little boy tools of communication with his family. What a blessing! So much of the time I feel like I really don't know what I am doing. I try one thing for a while, and if it doesn't work I try something else, all the while I pray for inspiration to know what to do with the kids I work with. In this case, the Lord has blessed me with that inspiration- and it feels like a miracle is taking place before my eyes. This specific method of pray and then "wing it" may not be one that will ever be published in a "best practice" article about Speech Therapy, but it seems to be working for me and my clients. All good things can, and do point us to God.

James' first Soccer game

I had a specific request to post some pictures of James from his first soccer game, specifically in his uniform. So we ordered a child small for James and apparently the office ran out of that size so they just gave us a youth small...it's like 5 sizes too big. As you can see in the pictures James' shirt completely covers his shorts, and I have to roll the shorts about 3 times just so that they don't go down to his shoes...but he's still a cutie in his soccer uniform.

It was a warm day when he played, and after all the running (that's his favorite part of soccer, the running) he was hot and sweaty. He's such a good little player!

James really likes that his name is on the back of his Jersey! Number 23!

He's our little all star. As I watch him play both at home and in other places I believe that James will be good at whatever he decides he wants to be good at. He's going to have so many opportunities and choices ahead of him! I love that kid so much!!!
